Most states require that agents have to be licensed with the division of the Florida Department of Financial Services to provide real estate brokerage services. This means that the realtor has to pass the state and federal Department of Financial Services licensing exam. Prior, to taking the exam the prospective realtor must be involved in all of the selling and buying transactions that they have completed. Once the broker has successfully completed the required education, they must complete a one-year apprenticeship under a real estate agent in order to obtain their real estate license.

When it comes to passing the licensing exam, the national real estate agents must pass two separate written sections that test their knowledge of real estate law, ethics and marketing.
